Pamper your body
Pamper your body regularly so you can operate at an optimal level when under stress. Schedule a massage or enjoy a pedicure and manicure at a local spa. Create your own self care spa day at home with a power nap, a soak in the tub or a massage for your arms and legs with scented lotion. Invest in a foot bath to pamper your feet or a paraffin bath to soften and moisturize your hands.
Dry skin brushing
Dry skin brushing increases lymph drainage and eliminates toxins in your body. Use a soft bath brush on your dry skin to gently exfoliate with long sweeping strokes towards your heart. Avoid sensitive areas. Follow up with a lukewarm shower to stimulate circulation, then massage lotion on your body to moisturize your skin.
Take a hot bath
Take a hot bath to boost your immune system and eliminate toxins through your sweat glands at the first sign of a cold. Pour 2 cups Epsom salts, 32 ounces hydrogen peroxide and a tea ball filled with 2 tablespoons of fresh grated ginger into your bath water. Soak for 20 minutes. Always get out slowly and moisturize your skin after you dry your body. Remember to drink fluids to rehydrate as your body sweats out extra fluid with the toxins.
For a relaxing bath which can reduce muscle pain and relax tired muscles, try 1 cup Epsom salts, 1 cup baking soda and 10 – 20 drops of an essential oil such as lavender or vanilla. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes, then slowly get out of the tub, dry off, moisturize your skin and drink plenty of fluids.
Essential oils and aromatherapy can have a positive impact on your health if used properly. Always dilute essential oils in a carrier oil such as almond or coconut oil. The scent of lavender oil quickly reaches your brain causing a sense of well-being and peace. It is often used for relaxation. Place one drop of lavender oil near your pillow to help you fall asleep at night. you can also add a few drops to scent your bathwater for stress relief and self care.
Peppermint oil can help clear the mind and enhance concentration when inhaled for several breaths. Place one drop on your palm, then cup your hands close to your nose while you inhale for several breaths. Wash your hands thoroughly after touching pure essential oils. To reduce neck tension and headaches, dilute a drop of peppermint essential oil in almond oil and rub onto the back of your neck, behind your ears and on your temples.
